Adding Fediverse Powered Comments to My Blog

Published on 2025/04/07

A crucial aspect of blogging is getting comments and being able to respond to them!

Inspired by Jan Wildeboer’s Client-side comments with Mastodon on a static Jekyll website and Cassidy James’ Toot toot! Mastodon-powered Blog Comments, I decided to take a shot at adding fediverse comments to my blog too!

If everything went according to plan, you should be able to click on a [Load Comments] button below this post and it should load replies to this post I made earlier!

At the moment, custom emojis don’t load, but I’ll get that working soon enough! 😄 Oh, and I’m gonna get reactions added to the comments too!

Update (2025-08-23)

Custom emojis in comments now work!

In addition to that, I also have fediverse powered boost and like badges on my posts!

Now all that’s left for it to be “perfect” is adding proper comment threads, but I think that can wait for now. 😄
